Academy Swing Band

The Academy Swing Band is one of our more advanced ensembles exploring lots of the World War II   repertoire as well as more modern swing.  The band has a busy diary and has performed in many venues in the UK and abroad.

Wednesday rehearsals
Start: 7.00pm.  Finish: 9.00pm
They are held in the music studio at Stapenhill Fields Farm

La Zouch Symphonic Wind Band

One group of the La Zouch Symphonic Wind Band rehearse at the music studio at Stapenhill Fields Farm on a Thursday evening and the other group rehearse on a Saturday morning in Ashby de la Zouch.  The two groups meet for concerts and form one large wind band.  The band really enjoys learning and performing popular musical and film music.  

Thursday rehearsals
Start: 7.30pm.  Finish: 9.00pm
They are held in the music studio at Stapenhill Fields Farm

Saturday rehearsals
Start: 10.00am.  Finish at 11.15am
They are held at Ashby Scout Hut

The Blastissimo Brass Ensemble

The advanced brass students meet two weeks before a concert to learn and rehearse repertoire.  The sixteen-piece ensemble is made up of trumpets, horns, trombones, tuba and percussionists.  They have a reputation for performing a lively, toe-tapping repertoire.

Ambient Light Theatre Academy (ALTA)

ALTA is our theatre group.  Weekly rehearsals bring all elements of theatre discipline together – acting, singing, dance and theatre craft.  Students have recently performed The Polar Express, Just So and Whistle Down The Wind.

Start: 11.30am.  Finish: 13.30pm
They are held at Ashby Scout Hut

 

 

Smaller ensembles

We encourage our students to form their own ensembles and seek guidance from our staff.  These ensembles include Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Vocal groups, String Quartet and Brass group.

We always welcome new members to our ensembles whether they receive lessons through MAS or other services.  If you would like to be involved, please do get in touch.
